In a detailed conversation, Sanjeewa Jayamaha, General Manager, SME Business, SLT-MOBITEL ENTERPRISE, outlines the company's new 'Unleash Your Business Potential' campaign for SMEs. He elaborates on SLT-MOBITEL ENTERPRISE’s comprehensive approach to democratise technology access, enabling businesses of all sizes to overcome technological barriers and embrace digital solutions that drive efficiency and growth, ultimately contributing to the country’s broader economic resilience.
Q: How is SLT-MOBITEL ENTERPRISE supporting Sri Lanka's national digital transformation journey?
The initiatives SLT-MOBITEL ENTERPRISE has taken directly align with national digital transformation goals. While businesses gain increased top line, operational efficiency, and enhanced customer experience, the country benefits from increased transparency and due revenue collection for government services, enabling greater investment in national development.
As the National ICT Solutions Provider, I believe we have laid the essential foundation through significant infrastructure investments, with more than 100 billion rupees in fibre infrastructure development during recent years. SLT-MOBITEL ENTERPRISE has also established necessary data centres and cloud infrastructure to support the next level of digital adoption.
Recognising the importance of co-existence with already established technology eco-systems, we have collaborated with tech solution providers through a rigorous evaluation process to offer one-stop, total digital solutions for SME customers. For example, when the government mandated point-of-sale transactions for all front-end businesses, we responded by incorporating POS solutions into the portfolio and promoting cloud-based options that are easy to scale and budget-friendly.
Our approach as a national service provider is to anticipate the country's digital needs and develop solutions that create transparency and benefits for all stakeholders including Businesses, Citizens, and Government. We strongly believe digital transformation will drive growth throughout the Sri Lankan economy.
Q: What digital applications does SLT-MOBITEL ENTERPRISE offer to facilitate business transformation?
We have introduced an affordable suite of business applications powered by ZOHO, a multinational organization with open-source solutions which suits for SME businesses together with renowned high end-world brands for enterprises. The comprehensive business application portfolio includes Human Resources (HR), Email and collaboration, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Accounting and Finance, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Marketing Automation, and Ecommerce. The application suite is also integrated with analytics and cyber security option.
Unlike other business applications that require complete adoption, the SLT-MOBITEL ENTERPRISE’s solution allows customers to start with just the applications they need. Since it is an integrated suite, when you add additional modules, your data automatically integrates across platforms. It enables businesses to scale up gradually by purchasing licenses for additional functionalities as their digitalization journey progresses. In addition, this approach eliminates the common challenge of integration issues that occurs when using different applications from multiple vendors.
Q: What other key features of SLT-MOBITEL ENTERPRISE's digital solutions should businesses be aware of?
I believe network and cloud infrastructure is absolutely key to any digitalisation effort, and something often overlooked in discussions. SLT-MOBITEL ENTERPRISE has established the country's most comprehensive fibre infrastructure and Tier 3 data centre, creating the essential foundation for all business applications.
Beyond this foundation, we offer managed service support 24/7, which distinguishes us from most competitors. We provide two service tiers: foundation-level support is free of charge, ensuring businesses can contact us anytime their service is interrupted and premium services such as cyber vulnerability assessment, penetration testing and managed security are available as paid options for enterprises requiring advanced cyber protection.
The combination of robust infrastructure and round-the-clock support enables businesses to focus on their core operations and for allows us to handle the technological backbone and functioning of their digital infrastructure.
Q: Can you share any success stories of SMEs that have benefited from SLT-MOBITEL ENTERPRISE's digital solutions?
We have numerous success stories across various sectors. Recent examples include businesses such as Kandy City Centre, Perera & Sons, J.M. Wickramarachchi & Co., Nadiya’s Textiles, Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT), DhanuWije Industries, EXCOM Group (PVT) Ltd., MPCS Yakkalamulla, and Lassana Flora who have thrived through technological adoption. Initially, these businesses operated traditionally, but they have transformed their operations through SLT-MOBITEL ENTERPRISE solutions.
Even larger digital-native companies including PickMe, Daraz and ikman are customers. These businesses require robust technology infrastructure to deliver their services, and they have partnered SLT-MOBITEL as their technology solution provider. The level of engagement varies based on their specific needs as some utilize only the connectivity services, and others leverage both the cloud infrastructure and digital applications.
We also support all industry verticals including tourism and leisure, financial institutes, wholesale and retail shops, manufacturing and real estate, medical and health care, fashion and beauty, education, professional services, SOHO and logistics, etc. The remote working and online education and collaboration enabled through our infrastructure have helped to improve operational efficiency immensely. The digital transformation journey is unique for each business, but our flexible solutions allow us to support them at whatever stage they are at in their digital evolution.
Q: What can you tell us about the ‘Unleash Business Potential’ campaign and the message to share with Sri Lankan SMEs?
We launched the campaign in mid-February under the theme ‘Unleash Your Business Potential’ which continued through the end of March 2025, though many activities will extend beyond that timeframe. The response has been tremendous, we have directly engaged over 5,000 customers through physical meetings and shared digital transformation expertise.
The engagement strategy has been comprehensive, including a product launch, hybrid webinar that connected nine physical locations simultaneously and physical one to one meetings. We also conducted numerous on-site demonstrations and activations where we showcased the solutions to small groups of businesses.
Most of these businesses have shown genuine interest in digital adoption and have begun implementing solutions with us. Though sales are important, the primary goal of the campaign is enabling digitalization across Sri Lanka's business environment, and we are committed to supporting them throughout their journey.
